Our new Chief Commander 2010-2011

The election period is over and the voting members' voice is loud and clear. All are in favor of appointing Scott Anderson as our new Chief Commander.

It is with great pleasure, the Executive Committee of the Chris Craft Commander Club proudly announces our new Commander for the 2010-2011 period.

SCOTT ANDERSON

Scott is one of the first members of the club, having signed on in April of 2000. He owns a 1969 31' Commander Sedan Flybridge. He has been this beloved Commander's caretaker since 1995. Scott uses "My Mistake III" in the Lower Great Lakes, mainly Lake Erie, and the Detroit River and Lake St Clair.

Scott's children, Cameron (15) and Krista (13), grew up on his Commander. Cameron now serves as Scott's unpaid captain, while Krista prefers to entertain her friends aboard the boat, as she did earlier this year, inviting 8 of her friends for a sleepover. The parents of Krista's friends thought Scott was out of his mind. He had a great time!

Scott considers himself to be an enthusiastic Commander owner, and maintains relationships with his online Commander Club friends, and others - some directly involved with the design of the Commander line, such as designers Dick Avery and Fred Hudson.

Having owned his Commander since 1995, it has afforded Scott the opportunity to delve into a variety of restoration projects. It's this experience that gives Scott a very unique and "hands-on" perspective when helping others, which he does generously. No project of Scott's received more air time than the installation of his flybridge.

Scott is a regular at our annual Rendezvous. He has attended all but the Delray Beach FL and the Dubuque IA Rendezvous. He enjoys them immensely, and is amazed at the camaraderie among the members. Scott likes seeing old friends again, and especially meeting new friends and putting a "face to a name" with someone he may have been communicating with online for years but never actually met.

When asked how he could convince a new member to attend their first rendezvous, Scott responded, "by just showing them the warmth that I've received over these past ten years. Yes, the boats are magnificent, but at the end of the day, it's the warmth and the hospitality of the owners and how they will invite a total stranger to tour their boat, offer up a cocktail and have some really great quality time trading stories and experiences that makes the rendezvous experience worthwhile. A total stranger may enter the boat, but by the time they leave, they've made a friend for life."

Scott is most passionate that this club of ours, and mostly our discussion forum, is not exclusively a "tech hotline", but an equally "social" discussion group as well. He believes this is tantamount to our success.

We, the Executive Committee, have unanimously approved the nomination of Scott Anderson for Chief Commander and are happy to learn that the members of the club are also strongly in favor of having Scott as our new Cheif Commander.

Best Regards,
