1986 (+/-) Commanders - fresh water in bilge under battery box

I have a 1986, 41 Commander.  I have fresh water running (slowly) into the bilge from a channel under the battery box on the port side.  All I can think is this is coming from the refrigerator condensor?  The refrigerator is orgininal.  I do not have the forward or mail salon AC units on and do not think I have a fresh water leak (and I leave h2o pressure system off).  Any ideas where water could be coming from?

I would think if you cut the fridge off and checked an hour later the water should cease if coming from the fridge condenser. Someone didnt put a thru-hull for something long forgotten--depth sounder etc under the battery box at some time in the past--causing now a slow leak?

Good Morning Jeff

I had a similar issue with my 1985 382. There was always fresh water in the bilge in the generator compartment under the aft deck. It was not enough to activate the bilge pump, but it was enough for me to switch it on and pump some out once a week. I was attributing this to rain water and spent hours cleaning out the channels and drains on the hatches, with no change. My son decided to install a new stereo system, and while changing the speakers, heard a hissing behind a removable panel. Further investigation revealed a water filter with a cracked housing. There was no perceptible loss in pressure or inordinate water consumption to indicate a leak. We bypassed this filter and installed one in a more convenient location. I am no longer pumping the bilge every week.
