When I purchased my 31' Commander, there was no swim platform, but there was hardware installed on the transom for a swim platform, and there were 6 brackets for a swim platform.

The brackets are 22", 24" and 28", as seen in the attached photo.
I am trying to figure out if the longer 28" brackets are intended to be installed in the center most positions, with the shorter 22" brackets in the outer most positions, or vice versa? This will help me determine what width swim platform to purchase.

I plan to purchase platform from Butler; they indicated the pattern they have for 31' Commanders is 20"-24" in width. Does this sound correct?

If you are purchasing a platform from Butler, it will come with the appropriate brackets. You may be able to adapt the mounting points on your boat to the new Butler brackets.

Butler has templates for the 31 Commander.  We purchased a platform for our 31 from them.  There is even a pic of it on the Butler site.

The Butler platform is curved to match the curve of the transom.  The outside edge of the platform would always be the same distance from the hull (roughly).  The brackets would all be the same width (as I recall, it's been a few years ago).

Hi Darin,

Your swim platform looks great, just what I want. Thanks for the info!
