Interested in purchasing fuel tanks from a salvage 1968 47’ Commander.  Need the kind that has the attachment on the side for tank leveling and engine fuel feed.  Can’t find anywhere to make the ones like the original I’ve had.  Only need one.

From your description, I don't think those are technically legal by USCG standards.

Tanks are not have fuel feed fittingss on bottom or other associated piping. The reason is if there is a fuel line failure, you don't want the tank emptying all of the tank into the bilge.

That is why tanks use an internal riser pipe for the fuel pickup port.

Both of my tanks are as Melesia describes. One feed on the bottom of each tank per engine + an equalizer feed on each tank. Each feed has a shutoff valve right at the tank. As far as I can tell this is how the boat came.

Related question - Can the feeds be changed to pull from the top of the tank without any issues or changes (other than adding pickup tubes)?

Is it diesel? I think you will have a hard time finding salvaged 47 Commanders. Unlike wood boats these survive. I know a company that would make your tank but it’s in michigan, and the would have to make it to uscg specs if you want it certified.
