Both of my engines (DD 8v-53) seem to leak mostly between the exhaust manifold and the block. The bolts to tighten this joint up seem to be easy enough to identify. Is it a good idea to tighten these to spec to see if that will stop some of the oil leak? Am I risking too much even touching those nuts, even with a torque wrench? Is this a normal place for DD's to leak or does it indicate another issue?

Steve, that is a valve cover leak that drips down onto the exhaust manifold. Address the valve cover. Might be loose screws as they do tend to get loose over time.

Valve cover gasket might not be properly positioned also.

That does make more sense. Even my limited engine brain was wondering what oil was doing in the exhaust :-)
