I am in the process of modernizing my cooling system on my 350 engine. I replaced the raw water pump with a crankshaft mounted volvo penta raw water pump. I replaced the cc circ pump with a marine gm pump. Heat exchanger is being boiled and pressure tested now. I removed the old oil fill tube out of the intake manifold as it would be in the way of replacement thermo housing.I blocked the hole with a brass freeze plug. I removed cc thermostat/housing. I now need to know what thermostat housing I can use and still make sure I have ports for coolant to flow through exhaust manifolds.   Has anybody out here already completed this project? Thanks in advance. JIm

I finished changing over port engine cooling systems today. I decided to do a half closed system ( block only). I plumbed the raw water through the exhaust manifolds and risers.  I will add a freshwater flush soon. I figured when I replace risers again down the road I will order new exhaust manifolds at that time. I could have use the old cc thermostat housing/ thermostat but I choose to install a new 160 degree stat and a standard housing. Boat gets used almost weekly all year long down here in Florida so that may help. So just  a little over $300.00 I have brand new up to date cooling system. Going to do the same on the starboard engine after holidays.
