So in the first photo you see the old packing assembly. This was bottomed out and the ears bent. It did not leak but it did cut a groove in the shaft. What was disturbing was the hose within the hose that was degrading. The next picture gives you a better view of what was there to clamp. Last photo is the modified Buck Algonquin packing box. It has the proper hub to match the dia of the shaft long. Its pricey but really nice machining. You can see where I cut off part of the log end of the female part to get this to fit the space between the log and the shaft flange. I also need to trim the shafting log to allow for some space between the log and the stuffing box.
