Curious if you all know off-hand what props should be on my boat. It appears they are 22x24 3 blade. Is that what it came from the factory with? Has anyone tried a different configuration with any success. 454s. Thank you. my hull number is FDA-36-0097H

Sounds close, mine is a 35SC with 454s & 2.5:1 reduction gears. I cruise at 16-17 mph (planning nicely) at 2600rpm if that helps. Is that a vacuum advance on the distributor in the picture?
@Thomas Sullivan do you know what your prop size is?
The distributor has a vacuum advance that is plugged, so not in use?
i believe the distributor has some type of electronic advance, every mechanic who looks at it asks the same question. I'm not sure what it is, but it works and matches the other engine.
@Char Pike are the factory prop sizes for the 36' TF in the archives somewhere?
Found this in the archives from @jim wick

Those are probably correct or close enough. The removal of your bridge is minimal. Get a hull card and you'll know for sure. The 454's put out 330hp. Thomas, your engines and props came out of a mid 80's 360.
Yup, mine are 22/26s.
My 1973 36' Sports Cruiser originally had 300hp 427 Fords. My boat was repowered with 350 Mercruiser MAG MPI also rated at 300HP and have 22D X 20P props.
@Craig Collins wow that’s significant less pitch than mine which are 22x24, same boat…
Does that allow you to run the engines at a higher rpm, fully reaching wide open at speed, just curious what/why your low pitch number means or how it affects performance? The reason I’m considering reducing pitch is that it didn’t feel like the engines could attain max rpm at speed on smooth water, like they needed less resistance? So I’m considering taking an inch off the pitch.
Hi Whitney, When the boat was repowered, it took a few changes to the wheels in order to reach WOT rpm. So now I cruise 3400 rpm @ 17knots and and get 4500 rpm at WOT. My hull number is FDA-36-0019-H.
@Craig Collins wow... so our boats are 78 boats apart in manufacturing at Holland...
you have repowered with 350 at 300HP - 22x20 props
I have 454 at 300HP - 22x24 props Is the '350' considered "small block" v8 vs '454' "big block" v8? Interesting that they produce similar hp... why did you go with those engines, are you happy?
350s are small blocks - so you have to spin them faster to get the HP. The horsepower curve peaks much earlier on the 454s and the torque curve is much higher from the git go all the way to the end (no substitute for cubic inches!). The 454s will likely reach 300HP before 3000RPM.
Yes, 350 are small blocks and the 454's are big blocks.
“There’s no replacement for displacement”…
My '74 36 TF is right between you guys: FDA-36-0064 H.
(Cummins diesel repower so my prop specs won't help you)
