Going into our 9th season with our two starting banks and they aren't keeping a charge as well as they did. Seems the world is short on 819 or 8v195 batteries, and if you can find them they are very expensive. I've seen posts of people using the 360CCA 1-8V batteries, sometimes just 4, sometimes 8 per bank.
I don't use these for anything other than start and some older helm stuff, like wiper motors - so I don't need high AH or mix deep cycle/starter.
Who has replaced their 8V recently? What did you do?
Steve, if you haven't already founds posts there, check out the Hatteras forum as this topic seems to come up frequently due to the number of 32VDC boats Hatteras built and the expense in replacing those batteries. If I recall correctly some have used the less expensive 8V golf cart batteries with success, even though they aren't really intended for starting applications.
