Hi Everyone! I just purchased a 1971 Commander 35 Sports Cruiser! The little bit I've been able to use it, I love it so far!!
One question, and I have a few ideas, but what does everyone use as a shade for the stateroom hatch? Mine looks almost like it has translucent paint, but there are small rails that look like they are there for a shade. I was thinking of just making a shade with a suitable bar to slide....am I on the right track?
Excited to be here!
Assuming it is the original CC hatch my guess is the rails/tracks are for the sliding screen. I am not aware of any shade for those hatches.
Michael...I'll have to take a picture next time I am at the boat. It is a long double track that goes about double the distance of the hatch. Yes, original vented hatch
The tracks are twice the length of the opening as the screen slides fully to open and close. It’s just a standard screen frame cut to size. My ‘76 47 has two single tracks for the screen only. I believe my 35SC was the same track. Could have changed as CC made running changes all the time.
Look at 2005 Rendezvous photos, my file, about page 6 is a foredeck picture of the hatch. There's also an article with pictures of "removing the wart" somewhere in the archives. If a hatch was lost or damaged a replacement of 3/4 inch plexiglass ala Searay etc might have been a result.
