I bought a Commander! CCHMG097O575 or FDA-36-0097H
Currently named SKIMMER II, located in Charleston, SC. Not really sure what year it is, but it appears to be the 97th one built? Not sure wether to call it a Sport Cruiser or Tournament Fisherman?
I am very excited about this model as i feel it offers many of the features that I need here on the Hudson River and New York Harbor/East Coast. I've owned a 38' Express, 19' Super Sport and a 55' and never ever thought i'd get near any type of 'fishy' Commander but then i realized how practical the large salon, lower back deck and high bow could be for my waters... I'm assuming the fishing rod holders can be drink holders? And the fish box/bait wells can be used to ice down beverages??
It has been worked on for over 5 years by our very own Lee Dahlen so I'm benefitting from all his handywork AGAIN!
I'll keep you posted! Excited to begin this new journey.
She started as a 73 on the production line and left the line as a 75. (Two hull numbers and two Chris Craft corps.) Congratulations Whitney. Youve gotten a real gem! So happy for you!
Congratulations, Whitney. I had a feeling there was a Commander in your future. Beautiful boat. With Lee's knowledge of the boat, you're in good shape. Keep us posted.
Congrats from another 36' owner in NY !
We're on Long Island and we cruise to CT and RI and going into our 11th season. She was shipped from Holland plant 08/27/1974 and is #64. Yes, the large salon and very useful back deck are most accomodating and the hull is great for our waters. Here she is and here's also a shot of our 8'6" dinghy on the back deck to show off that wide open cockpit. We love the boat and she gets lots of compliments. Yours is a beauty and will as well.
@Robert Schepis so nice to meet you, hope to see you someday! curious what you do to maintain that woodwork, is that a varnish or a oil or what? Mine has untreated teak on the back deck but it appears you applied varnish? It looks beautiful!
Thanks. It's just a few coats of Sikkens Cetol Marine Natural Teak. A scrape and redo every 5 yrs or so. Scuff and maintenance coat annually.
Congratulations Whitney! That is a very nice Commander. I personally always had a soft spot for the 36. As you say, many very useful design features.
Congratualtions! I have hull number 19 36' Sports Cruiser (FDA-36-0019-H).
