Do any of you remember why we can't use a regular cap on these engines? I know that there was some discussion about it but I can't remember what was said. Lee can you chime in here? Seems as I have misplaced my Superdisc!
It was done as a clearance issue. Clearly on my 42 DC and the 47's there is plenty of room for a standard cap. Not sure on a 38,35's or the 31's that had the 300's in them. It would facilitate a rotor change and probably an attachment alteration. I was going to work on it but have so many spares that I have never gotten to it.
Sterling, I checked mine today. I measured 5 inches of room there. I don't have any spares and can't seem to find any that don't cost way too much. I remember Commander Morland talking about some gentlemen that built some of these caps but I seem to have misplaced my Superdisc. Thanks much!
As I understand it there is not enough room between the top of the engine and the insulated floor board? Distributor cap on a 327/350 !
