Do you all know specifically when the 47' came with the short "3/4" hardtop and when it didn't? Was it an option? Or did the original 47' simply come with the short hardtop and then at one point it was extended. I personally prefer the short hardtop because it makes the deckhouse appear more like the 38's profile and also offers more sun on the back deck. However my Dermatologist would STRONGLY argue that the full hardtop is the better option!

Whitney, I am all about the short hard top no bridge! Would love to have one.
Whitney, from reading posts here on the Commander Club over the years and I think more specifically from Jim Rivas, here is what I understand:
1967 short fiberglass hardtop only
1968 long wood hardtop optional
1969 long fiberglass hardtop optional
1970+ long fiberglass hardtop only
Hi Whitney.
I haven't commented here in years.
Our great Commander memories are only slightly clouded regular my now regular sun-induced visits to the dermatologist.
We hope our kids' beautiful Korean skin will age better than our pale northern European.
Like us, your club status is Commanderless. Anything on the horizon?
@Todd Heinrich i do think that I have one more Commander in me. I will be alone onboard because John nor the kids have any interest. But with 2 daughters still living at home with 3 dogs and a baby (cumulative) the siren's song of a solitary sailor's life sings loudly.
I have the short top and I'm very happy with it. I also have a Sunbrella fly that I think looks pretty good when we need some shade.
The poles on the back, slide out of deck attachments, and telescope down to a stowable size
