I have a spare propeller shaft for my 1974 Commander 41 with 427 gas motors. This was ordered with the boat and has been in the engine room since new. The propeller shaft is made of some type of bronze alloy. The boat has stainless steel shafts right now. I would like to use it because one of my stainless-steel shafts has some run out. Does anyone have experience with bronze shafts? Do they hold up okay? Is that what Chris Craft used back in 1974 as the standard shaft material? I don't run the boat hard. I never go over 2000 rpm's. Let me know your opinions on this.

Thanks for the information. I plan to have the straightness checked and use this shaft if it checks out good.
