Does anyone have any experiance with the Hundyia Seasail diesels? Looks like it maybe a repower candidate for 327/350Q engines. Close to the same measurements and hp and 200 lbs lighter. Just curious, like I need a another project….my wife the Admiral might kill me!

New transmissions, shafts, props, gauges, controls, for a modern engine. I'm a fan of diesels, but there are a lot of drawbacks. If I were repowering, it would be carbed 383s with down-angle transmissions. How many of these engines are in your area, and how many shops service them, and how busy are they?
There are really no options that will get you any significant speed increase. Fuel mileage can improve some with modern engines. Diesels will be noise, smoke, smell, vibration (I love all, but not always), expense to purchase and install, expense and difficulty maintaining (unless you, a close friend, or family member maintains them). If you are going to start making long runs with this boat, diesels might pay for themselves someday.
Way to expensive, way to much time. If the engines are antifreeze cooled (closed system) gm 350's with just a little care should run damn near forever. I just replaced my starboard engine at 55 years old, not because it wore out but the oil sending unit failed and pumped 6 quarts of oil in the bilge while doing 3000 rpms. The port engine still runs just fine. In my humble opinion its not worth the time, money or aggravation.
David can you yell me what it cost you to rebuild the 350? Mine are suppose to have been recently rebuilt but I have some doubts about the quality of the work…. Time will tell still breaking them in.
Tough to say because I did the bulk of the work. I sent the block out to get new rings and bearings put in. That was $800. Another $700 to get heads redone. $350 for gasket kit from Henkel. Hoses, spark plugs, wires, antifreeze etc.
