I lost the info on the type of oil to use for our original 427 Fords. When the web site switched over, away went my info. May I ask for a repeat? I have the trans fluid info and know I should not use sythentics but though you all had a preferred crankcase oil that you use. Sorry to be the new needy owner ;-)

30wt is what they used back in the 60's and 70's. Oil has changed a lot since then. I like Rotella T4 (has 1100 ppm of Zn) + a half bottle of Rislone to bring in up to about 1600 ppm.
Valvoline VR1 racing oil is also good for the old flat tappet motors. Some folks have had good luck with Mobil 1 15w-50. You are likely to get a lot of different opinions.
I’ve always used Mobil 1 15/50 in my bikes but haven’t been able to find it for a while. It was good for wet clutch bikes, because of its lack of friction modifiers.
Nope, @Wesley Heinmiller all the info is still here - on this new site and all the posts are archived under “resources” and boy there are a lot of opinions on this topic, I found about five 427 oil recommendation posts in the archives and they vary, you know what they say about opinions…
As for the oil, I am not familiar with the Mobil 5-50 you mentioned, but I am VERY familiar with Mobil-1 15-50, and I am verrry impressed with it. See my article in the club files about oil. …and it is in my 427 marine sumps right now.
But again, that’s just one member’s opinion!
Here is one of several from the CCCC Archives:
The old guys who restore old race and boat engines nearby in Hudsonville, swear by Penngrade for old engines like ours. It will plug up the catalytic converter in modern vehicles, so you won't find it in auto parts stores.

I run Rotella T 40. I also add this zddp additive.
Rotella T4 15/40. No additives needed due to the zinc content already in rotella.
