Hello been a member of this great group for a while mostly just read.... but this time was wondering....its dark out or i would post pics..... storming..... as mentioned I have a CC336 with twin crusader 454's with a a genset.... was Bob or Robert Gulino.... was in new York for awhile..... and then he moved to Tampa FL. And I seen it and bought it... it is loaded with every option that was available.... but it has crusader 454's... and its pretty crowded down below... has anybody done a swap to online diesels... to open up to put a black water tank, I'm in Arkansas a long way from the salt water...lol... but after my wife retires we were thinking about spending time in the gulf or around the intercostal waterway... and it has the potty like an RV seat with maybe a 15 gal tank below it... and their isn't much room for anything mustless a 20 or 30 gal blackwater tank.... or does anybody know anyone that has done it... thx....
I've seen a lot of CC commanders and I have never seen another like this one... 336 with a radar arch... and it has radar... everything works... I talked to Robert about the genset and he said it had been locked up for 9 yrs... I got it to free up with a trick I was told by an older machanic... and the pulled the plugs out of one engine was little stiff but with Same technique I got it free and running... rebuilt both carbs... the other engine cranked right up after rebuilding the carb and put some emery board to both set of points.... he said he hadn't taken it out in yrs... and had to haventhe bottom scrapped before loading on the trl we had built for it....
We went to Tampa on Christmas and slept on it... paid for it.... and as we were leaving Tampa I seen a sign for trl building... we stopped and I told him where it was and what slip and told him to get me a price.... he came up with $6,000 for a brand newly built triple axle all axles had brakes led lights spare wheel and tire... so I didn't hesitate I wired him $6000 and we went back on valentine's day... picked it up... trl fit great... and had a boat shed built and it has been under it for 5 ot 6 yrs... working on it fixing things waiting for her to quiet her work.. had to get two raw water pumps.. was cheaper to get them off ebay than it was for the kits to rebuilt them.... and was looking at it one day and seen hair line cracks innthe rudder shaft... found the entire shaft and rudder and the box on ebay...
Anyway now just wondering if it would be worth the trouble to swap them out... to disassemble them and lift out .... would be a little lighter I've been told ... and diesel is more easy to find innthe gulf and around fl... or has been told by a buddy that was a radar tech in the navy .. will need the bottom sanded and regeled... after sitting for yrs... and all the barnacles that were all over it...top looks great when washed...
Any was sorry for rambling... just can't wait to get it back innthe water....thx... charles
Wrll I've almost talked myself into keepnthe crusaders.... just read a great article in the files... about doing a swap... this group not only has great knowledgeable members... UT has a million answers that a million and one people have... I found the great piece innthe cc files about doing engine swaps from gas to diesel... andnit was an eye opener...
I owned a trucking company for 15 yrs... so I'm pretty knowledgeable a out diesels... and have built some fast hot rods cars... and I do believe I'll keep the crusaders since their already in and they ran the last time cranked them.... thx again for the info I was needing...
