Heat pumps lose their advantage somewhere in the 40s so most heaters are electric.
You have to move a lot of air for a heat pump to work, therefore the space requirements doesn’t really work for boats. That’s why boats systems use water for the heat transfer.
Most Marine HVAC units (Self contained) are just that. They are AC With reverse cycle heat. I assume this is what you are asking. We install a lot of them and they work well. We Install Dometic ONLY... There are a ton of other brands but their Customer service and warranty is lacking.
