When we pulled the engines out of our 1972 28' Sports Express we found a couple of the lag screw holes were stripped out. What's the best way to fix this? A local boat shop recommended drilling the holes oversize and filling them with an epoxy/chopped fiberglass fibers mixture. Then drill new holes for new lag screws. Has anyone done this? Thanks.

Thank you Nathaniel. I’m seeing the same thing, damaged threads but no signs of rot. I’m so glad I bought a boat that was well cared for.
