On the 1967 Commander Sport Express is the trim that surrounds the galley doors and drawer facings made of aluminum or stainless steel? Does anyone happen to know of a source if this is still available? Also, a source for the spiral twist brads/nails that hold it on?

Hello William. Is it the one that goes between a vertical surface and a horizontal one? About 3/8 wide.
It seems that William replied to the e-mail notification rather than here on the forum. Here is what we received:
No, it’s the edge banding on the doors and drawers. It appears to be about 3/4” wide.
William,
The trim (edge banding) is aluminum. I sourced an identical of the original profile from a company called Hoskin & Muir (a.k.a. HMI glass). On my 1967 Sports Express, the wrap over trim edges were beveled rather than smoothly rounded over like most trim you see in kitchen and bath stores.
The corners are wrapped as were the original. I constructed a wooden jig out of scrap mahagony to hold the stick of trim and guide cutting of the v-notch at the corners. A second jig served as a bending tool to get the crisp 90 degree angle at the corners.
The nails are the same as what is used for floor edge trim. You just have to search around for the right size of rounded head and compatible finish. I'll look around and see if I still have some.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.
Keith
