We are in the process of re vamping my childhood vessel. One of the items we want to replace is the carpet to something that would allow access to all the hatches in the salon and other areas. My mom replaced some time back with way too thick carpet that prevents access. I think I remember originally having a thin carpet that could be rolled back? Any other suggestions? We would consider some kind of high end planks but with all the hatch openings I’m not sure that would look goo…

Some have used double sided tape rather than adhesive. Some have just put them down.

At the Rendezvous I talked to a couple of folks about carpet squares and how I loved them on the boat. I took a couple of photos this weekend to show how it looks. The great part is if we need in the bilge, we just take up a few squares and BOOM we have easy access. And if you drop something nasty on them, they can be replaced or pulled up and washed in the sink.We used them at work and last week the roof leaked. We pulled up the soaked tiles and hosed them off and let them dry before laid them back down. Not a fun job, but there is not a nasty carpet pad we have to get clean.
