First oil change on my 'new to me' 1968 31' Commander - twin 327F's. Have a good oil change pump - but small hose will not go down the dip stick tube - tube is crimped fairly flat. Do tell, whats the best way to remove old, warm, oil from these engines?
Thanks so much.
I suggest either uncrimping the flat spot or replacing the dip stick tube before changing your oil
327Fs generally have an oil change tube on them. Located in the rear outer corner near the remote oil filter. Look for a tube coming from the bottom of the pan to the area described with a brass cap on it.
@Jeremy Goldstein its designed that way to clear the mans on those engines. There is a oil change tube I commented on.
@Lee Dahlen guess I missed the F part , I was thinking Q which I use the dip stick tube to remove oil
I had to add an oil drain kit to my 327’s for easy changes. Like Lee said, look for a tube or hose with a brass plug threaded in the end first. If you don’t have one you can always add the kit for future changes.
This is what the oil removal tube looks like on my 327 F's.
Thanks for all of the help! Had seen those tubes and thought they were for the transmissions😯. Oil changed in both engines and trans! Thanks again guys - this is a great forum.
