Hello,
I am rebuilding my aft bulkhead on a 30 TF. I pulled off the veneer and only found a small portion of outboard side of the wood dry rotted. 7/8 of the wood is in great condition. My plan is to break out the bad area, then epoxy it. Get another 1/2" piece of marine ply with veneer teak and sandwich it all together. I know the "correct" way is to tear out the whole bulkhead but seems way to much for me. Any other ideas of how to go about this?
I too would patch the area. Too extreme to remove all for me. I would drench the area in CPES. Then start to patch. It’s a very small area. Epoxy and mahogany sawdust make a great filler.
I recently replaced the bulkhead's on both sides of my TSF 30. Its a big job but not undoable. i removed the bulkheads one side at a time then used a piece of 1/4" veneer and placed it at the door frame side. Then used a " Tick Stick" to mark all the curves. relay the 1/4 " veneer on a new piece of 3/4 " teak plywood and cut. big head aches. removing the door jambs. removing and replacing the shower pan. Starboard side was not bad but need to recreate the window. I also did the side panels. another note. the piece will be about 6" wider than the 4 foot sheet. so you need to add to it. can buy all the sheets at B
oulter plywood in Medford Mass.
