Any experience out there with the relocation of a Chris-Craft 47' Commander from the Lake St. Clair area to the Sea of Cortez area of Mexico, such as La Paz ? . . . For example, any experience of placing a Chris-Craft 47' Commander on the deck of an Ocean going freighter from the Great Lakes area? . . . or shipping via a semi truck float trailer? . . . or any experience of cruising a Chris-Craft 47' Commander from the Great Lakes area to the Sea of Cortez area in Mexico, such as to La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico? Thank you, in advance, for your serious consideration and time. With kind regards, Mark

I shipped mine from Baltimore to St Thomas on Sevenstar. You can check out their site to see their routes.
The captain I hired to coordinate the move documented the voyage on his Instagram site. (https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE3ODY2ODQ3MTU1NjAwNjA0?story_media_id=2220612265332543759&igsh=MTR3M3JwbXU2MHBrNA==).
That would be quite a voyage… down Lake Michigan / Chicago and through the river system to Mobile, across Gulf of Mexico and then to Panama Canal. I don’t know if a 47 would have the fuel capacity to make that trip, not to mention the Panama Canal is a major undertaking in itself. Is there not a 47 on the west coast available?
A 47 can be moved over the road. However, if she has a bridge, that has to come off. Probably the top and side windows and windshield must come down. Additionally, she has to move with permit, chase cars and can only move during daylight hours. Looked at it many times and just could not make the dollars work.
I am wondering why I have NEVER heard of OR read regarding a LARGE boat, such as a Chris-Craft 47' Commander, being transported by RAIL to a far away destination within North America, such as from the Great Lakes to San Diego, California ?
Rail is limited to 10'6" as standard width,I think clearance between passing trains is well under what would be required for any over 13'.
