The previous owners mechanic replaced the Mallory distributor with a Sierra( folks who bought Mallory). I suspect ther was nothing wrong with the Mallory, just off 1 tooth. The Mallory was optical the Sierra is magnetic. The port engine which has the Sierra idles rough when it warms up and begins to backfire when we hit 2200 rpm. I think this is when the centifical advance kicks in. The advace is mounted with two set screws and slots for adjustment. Has anyone worked on setting this type electronic distributor?? Also the two little clamps that hold the cap are messed up by the previous mechanic…. Sierra’s customer service folks are of no help, no printed info, won’t sell parts… all or nothing!! I might be forced to re-install the Maslory which I still have. Any info is appreciated.
