I have a 1973 410. The flexible ducts connected to the chrome clam shell ducts on the teak toe rail have come disconnected due to a rough lake and some rotted wood around the deck opening.
Not yet sure how I'm going to fix this. Start with some plywood replacement under the deck area. Easy on the port side. Need to remove inner cabin wall on the starboard side.
Step one is removing the chrome air inlet. Three screws. The one at the rear looks tough to get a screwdriver on. Is there any wisdom out there on removing these before I begin?
Thanks
John
John, it's a slotted opening for each screw head, so the vent slides and locks into place. The larger opening fits over each screwhead in the toerail and when shoved in place the slot draws it tight. So just tap it a bit fore and aft. I have mine off every season when varnishing and I always check that the toerail is sealed around the opening and and clean the screen while it's removed.

Thanks for the tip Bill. Sounds easier than I expected.
