I am wanting to paint the salon's outside stripes of my 38 they are a light tan color with ridges. Has anyone repainted them? Looking for advise on best way to do it and what paint to use.
I have had great success with Brightside paints. Applies with a brush, will self level and not sag or drip when applied evenly. Not sure your color choice but there is also a stripe paint produced by Interlux. I have painted more than one boat and did some stripe touch ups using Interlux Brightside. It's my "go to" paint for fiberglass surfaces.
I agree with Phillip, I used Interlux Brightside Saffire blue a nice dark blue.
If you can figure out if it was originally gelcoat or a 2 part paint I would go with a 2 part paint. Even though brightsides levels out well I find it to be a very soft paint that scratches easily.
I bought the Interlux Brightside Saffire blue to do the stripes on my 1979 45 Commander.
It is the exact factory match for color.
I was on line looking at vinyl stripes. I found a web site, I think it's out of new jersey that will cut custom widths, custom colors and put it under a application film so the different colors or widths go on perfectly.
Well they have brand specific colors and they had the Interlux Brightside Saffire blue. Matches perfectly
I had a custom 3-1/2" stripe cut for the cabin as the paint stripe varied 3 to 3-1/2"
Goes on easy and looks great.
Just another option
The color I am looking for is more of a light tan.
