So this past weekend, I went to start my port engine(Chris Craft 454) and after turning it over for a few minutes it wouldnt start. So I tried one more time and I heard a bad noise coming from the starter and it would not turn over any more. So I took off the starter and the starter teeth are chewed up and looked at the fly wheel and the flywheel is missing two teeth. So I am wondering if anyone has had this issue before and if I can get a new starter on and the engine turned so the new starter engages the solid teeth will it crank up or will it turn over once and get stuck in the exact same spot. Also has anyone had to replace the flywheel and how is it done. Also I know that I have a fuel delivery issue aka the reason it would not start. If anyone has run across this I would appreciate any information. I have a 1980 410 Commander with Chris Craft 454's and Paragon Transmissions.

If you have teeth missing on the flywheel itself its giing to be an issue untill both the starter and flywheel are replaced. It can bedone in the water but its a heck of a job. If you want to call me I can explain the procedure in detail so when you get eestimates you will be educated on what's involved. Lee Dahlen. 704 287 3914
