Hello All,

For the winter home projects (because having projects during the boating season isn't enough), I brought home my cabin door (and top), as well as the companion (side) door from our 1967 42 Commander.  The aluminum is in great shape, but the wood panel insert is shot on the lower half.  I haven't pulled it apart yet, but my plan will be to disassemble, cut a new wood panel (I have 1/4" mahogany plywood that should fit the bill), and of course replace the gasket material... so... Any ideas on where to get the gasket material for the window and the wood panel areas?  Thanks in advance!

Oh Chris you are putting me to shame, yet i am chipping away with projects on mine. Remember I started redoing the toe rail back in Feb. Three -  three coat West System epoxy and three - three coat Awlspar varnish and finish up with many single coats of Captains Varnish. Also did the wood around the helm. Decided to spray 2k urethane.  4 coats isolante 50/50 sealer with color for toner then 4 coats clear. An interesting day back and forth laying on coats at shop and boat. Really thinking about taping off and spraying top coat on the toerail. Pulled aftercoolers off the other day, have to put one in the oven, (mimi's pissed but she will get over it), heat up then pour cold water thru the coil  to slide out, 6 news filters,  impellers, 26 qts of oil, and flush heat exchangers

I need to completely re-bed EVERYTHING on my 1970 Commander 42. Can I use some of these rubber products in place of the adhesive sealants?

David, if you are going to do the windshield, talk to me first. Good luck. I have been using Sika flex LOT (long open time) for most of my stuff.

I will do the windshields, windows, hatches, ports, everything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have been using butyal tape to bed down hatches cleats and windows works great, pick it up at any RV store
