Any 427 owners order an impeller/gasket kit lately? The two (two!?) I just got have gaskets that look like they were cut in a mirror. The extra material that’s supposed to go over the cam is on the wrong side. I’m gonna call Depco on Monday, but thought this was kinda crazy. Must be a manufacturing problem?

Actually yes, I had the exact same problem with mine when I did them this past summer on my 327's. Genuine Sherwood impeller kit. I ended up trimming the extra gasket off the inside. Has been working fine.

Ditto on the 427s. I did Mike H. fix also. No trouble or leaking.

Hoping that’s not Sherwoods answer tomorrow, but will report back. Would prefer they make it right, but guess we’ll see...

Have finally closed the loop with Sherwood. The 10615K impeller kit can still be used for the 11095G pump, but for the impeller only. The gasket for the pump has been deemed obsolete and not included in the kit any longer. The good news is they still have a good supply of gaskets available and can be ordered directly from Sherwood or through pretty much any dealer (ie, Worst Marine). The part number for the correct 427 gasket is 10971-SHW and they’ll run you just north of $3 each.

I suspect if you have a kit that still indicates fitting our pumps, Sherwood will send you a couple free of charge. The number to use is 888-782-7483.

That's not particularly encouraging. Wonder how long til we all have to rtv our pumps or cut our own gaskets. I tried one without a gasket just using the aviation form a gasket I use on pretty much everything, it didn't hold without the paper gasket.

Agreed. Might as well start working up solutions. They offered to send me two gaskets since I was sitting on two kits. I went ahead and ordered 6 more. Changing every other year, I figure that’s a good 16 years of usage, so I’m probably set for the rest of my ownership - ha!

I turned mine around and trimmed with no apparent issues or leaking. I will get some on order though.

The next question, did they send the right gasket? Or is the one that you have what will continue to be included? I can live with the one that I have to trim.

Though honestly these impellers should last the rest of the life of these motors with my 5 year interval plan.
