Unless there are signs of problems, I change the impeller and cam in my water pumps every two years.

I don't know what twisted, sadistic fool designed the water pump placement on 427's installed in 35's, but let them be warned...I will have my vengeance - in this life, or the next.

Maybe they thought everyone had a bilge monkey or mechanically-inclined elf to help.

Maybe it was all a ploy to drive-up billable hours for the service crews.

Maybe they weren't thinking at all.

The good news is, I'm up to date on my tetanus shots, I confirmed I can dislocate my shoulder in two different places at the same time, and I got the little $^%&#s out!!

My day of retribution will come!!

I hear you we just bought a carver 28 to flip and the midship bilge pump well you can see it but you can not touch it no way no how I think they built the boat around the dam thing.

I changed my impellers last season. They had 5 years and somewhere around 400hrs on them, both showed very little wear, no cracking and good elasticity. I'm on the 5 year plan now

The impellers on the 427's in a 42 are no fun, but doable. I was looking at the tranny coolers where all the pieces would go if it nuked and I am not even sure I could get it out ??!

Be glad you do not have aftercoolers to service, just got mine reinstalled last night, now 6 filters , and fluid changes. Guess Ill be breaking out the wet suit to clean bottom next week!

Aftercoolers? What are those?

They are just behind the inter-coolers and after-burners.  They are only used for sudden bursts of speed to outrun SeaRays;-)

Wait.... you’re just not thinking this through Matt!! This is why we have bilge rats (kids) They dont have to know all the technical things, “just take this thingy, go down there and Ill tell ya what to do!”
How do you think Patrick ended up with a degree in this stuff now!
PS hes graduated and back home now! :)

days getting the core out, wish I had kids to clean engine room, not. lol

What are you doing with a garage heater in south Florida?  lol

Jim, that isn't a heater, it's the afterburner! ;-)

No problem with a 35 Sport Cruiser! Lol
