Hi everyone!
I've been working on replacing my rear motor mounts for some time because the threads were in pretty bad shape on the vertical studs on all four.
I eventually had the studs replaced and am very happy with how they turned out, but to complete the job, I need to replace the Vibration Dampeners. These little guys are impossible to find locally, but thanks to Jim Wick, I have sourced them through Harpur's Marine in LA.
Before shipping them in though, I have been checking out every source available to me to buy locally and at the local boat show last week, I ran across an outfit that suggested that I make the dampeners out of polyurethane. I have absolutely no experience with this product in this type of application so hence my questions to the group.
Have any of you, had experience with polyurethane vibration dampeners without the benefit of the steel sleeves/cages to protect the polyurethane?
I have attached a couple of pictures to try and illustrate my question.
In my rear mounts that fit on my Borg Warners, there are two vibration dampeners with a spacer between them. (See photo tagged Motor Mount_7)
The company that I discussed this with suggested that I replace the two dampeners with one solid piece of polyurethane. I lathed a piece of wood this morning to simulate what he suggested. (See photo tagged Motor Mount_4)
I have resigned myself to stop exploring this and order the new ones from Harpur's if this polyurethane is not a suitable replacement. The supplier suggested a 90 Weight Polyurethane, but again, I have no idea what that means or what scale it is measured on.
Thanks for your time and I hope the photos are attached.

I'm probably sticking with original if Harpurs has them for only one reason! These will affect your shaft alignment as well. and personally by the time you make these up and get them just right how much have you saved. ( Your time is worth something) But it's just my opinion. I absolutely agree gentlemen! I'm placing the order with Mr. Harpur as I write this. Thanks
