Had a distastrous repaint on the bootstripe which I believe was caused by a combintion of wrong paint and application by the contractor. Now rehiring another to refinish, but was wondering of any recommendations for the best paint for this appication for high gloss and smooth application. Thank you.

I had good luck with Interlux Brightsides Polyurethane. It goes on very thin and then kind of self levels. I did it myself and it passes the 5 ft rule. From 5 feet away, it looks like it was done by a professional.
You can get it at Jamestown http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid...!6456&keyword=interlux_brightside_polyurethane_paint
or West Marine.

Same here, Interlux Brightside, the one part not the perfection which is a 2 part. Same basic results. I did prime first. If it is pealing or has checked, I would remove it all and prime/paint.
Hi and sorry to hear of the problem --- I just redid our boot-stripe and am happy with it . I used the Interlux Brightside too . 2 coats - Roll and tip application - let cure for 2 weeks in heated storage -- wet sanded with 800 and then buffed to a great shine . Did the previous boat with Petit Easypoxy (also 1 part ) that way too , and it still looked great 6 years later when I sold her . Good Luck Tom Kossmann
Does anybody know the Awlgrip color equivalent (or close) to Interlux Flag Blue? Thank you,
Jack
