A few years ago, in addition to several phones and computers, I had a contact name of a gentleman I believe in Ft Lauderdale that specialized in old Cummins engines.  He had parts for the VT8s and could also rebuild some components.  My understanding was that he used work for Cummins and was part of the crew that installed them on the 47's.  I am in need of a Injector Push Rod 169352.

Does anyone know of this person/company or another source for parts?

Found the pushrod on eBay. Same part number as in a 903. Let’s hope.

oops

The internet always amazes.  May have found it.

CUMMINS DIESEL PARTS - Used, Rebuilt, New VT8370M, V8300M, V903M, V555M. Phone: (954) 321-6863

on a side note, I just talked to a previous owner of my 47 yesterday.  He said these engines only went in generators, pumps and boats: they were never used in trucks.  He said someone put 17000 hours on one in a tug and it still didn't need rebuilding.  It will last forever if maintained.  :)

Hello Mike:

I am the person who found this location in Ft Lauderdale just outside of the international airport back in 2016.  Realizing how important this person is/was on these engines, I immediately reported it Dick Morland who in turn was going to put it into the club’s archives.  He worked with Cummins Southeast out of Miami and was the go-to person when it had to do with the 47’ commander.  I do not remember what caused me to go there, but I called the number on his front door and met him personally a few days later.  He still maintained a complete file on the VTM-370 Project including Sea Trial data for each 47 that had these engines.  I am attaching a few pics of his location.  All the information as to this person is correct as indicated on your post.  Good luck.

Thanks Jim,  Maybe I originally got the lead from Dick several years ago when I bought the boat.  Mike

Wow!  I'd love to have that sea trial data on my boat.  I'll contact him.
