Do you have a request? Respond?
No and yes. Happy Monday.
Overall this is a nice website
But the friend request thing just doesn't work.
Nobody really noticed that they have any requests maybe it could be eliminated and if your a member you should already be able to sent messages to other members
I thought that an email was sent when you receive a friend request. Is this thread happening because people are not responding?
Jeremy, I don't think there is an email sent with a request, it just shows as a note in your inbox on this site. Mods, am I wrong?
Jim, I have outstanding requests, several near me and thought this may be something wider than my experience.
There are topics that can be common to an area or model that may not be of interest or value to the club. i.e. Right now in our area we are in flood and many marinas are not able to be accessed but exchange of local conditions may be of interest within this small group. For most email addy is unknown.
Was not sure where you were going. I have had probably less than 50% success with requests. I always respond, why not?
Most other sites allow an IM between known members. I am a bit unclear if this software is not capable. Or why we would not allow open messaging with the existing members? Was there a problem?
I'm sure you can post a private comment to an individual in the club without have to 'friend' them.
Sounds like what Tim M is looking for is way to address a sub-group of local members.
I did not even know there was a message system available. I had always tried to work through the Inbox system which does require to do a friend request to use. Just discovered you can search for someone’s profile or click on their name and message them. It always bothered me, I just never asked. So with a friend list you can send out a message to multiple folks? That’s a twist on any forum I have used before.
I don't think multiple notes are an option but I haven't tried it. This site is much less clunky than others I use.
Bruce, see if you get a multiple note.
No such luck, you cannot do multiple notes. Copy and paste to multiple connections but not at once.
If you find someone on your Ning Network you’d like to be able to send private messages to, you can add them as your friend on the Ning Network. You can even add a note to your friend request to them. Once you add them as a friend, they’ll receive a notification that you’d like to be friends. They can then choose to accept the friend request and become friends with you, or ignore the request.
To send a friend request to someone on the social network, go to their profile page. Click the “Add as friend” link under their profile photo. A confirmation window will pop up. If you’d like to add a note to your friend request, click the “Add a personal message” link. Some people don’t feel comfortable accepting friend requests from people they don’t know, so this is a great way to let them know how you might know each other or why you’d like to be friends. Once you click “Send,” they’ll receive a notification that you’d like to be friends with them. When someone sends you a friend request, you’ll receive an email notification that they’ve done so.
View Your Friends
To see the list of everyone you’re friends with on a Ning Network, head to your profile page and click on the Friends tab beneath your profile and cover photo. You can also from here click on the “All Friends” link . You’ll be taken to a page listing all of your friends on this network. From the Members page, you will see a My Friends submenu item. That will take you to this same page.
You can send the same message to more than one friend by going to inbox, click compose, check names of friends you want to send message. Be sure to click send. Folks can then reply all just like regular e-mail.
I'll ask Pam to investigate further.
Char, my hero!
Ely, Eileen Powers spoke best to this saying that this group of diversified individuals "get along". I tried to find the post but could not. It was perhaps one of the most significant statements defining our "group". I bet Char finds it! I await.
