our recently purchased 392 Commander Has a 6.5 KW generator. The wires leading from the top of the spark plug to the coil are in rough shape. Onan wants over $500 US for these wires. Has anyone had a similar problem and or do does anyone know of replacement wires that would be available.

We love using our generator however $500 for a 12 inch piece of wire seems a little pricey to me

The dealer where i got my electronic ignition was Michigan Generator. The owner is Pat Morgan - and he is an amazing guy. Very honest and trustworthy. My generator runs like a champ and no more starting issues.
His email is michigangenerator@yahoo.com so feel free to reach out to him for information on the electronic ignition.
Good Luck all!

If someone gets info on the electronic ignition option please share it here.  Thank you.

I have been talking to someone in the marina about electronic ignition for the mcck 6.5. Where do you get it and how complicated is it to install?

Thanks for all the input.  I found an amazing dealer in Michigan who has been dealing with Onan generators for over 40 years.  We installed an electronic ignition and good to go.  Nothing a few hundred bucks couldn't fix

Thanks very much!

Hi Paul: We are in Amherstburg, Ontario - not far from you and have been up to Harrison Township a few times by boat.

Paul,

Give me a call some time. I am in the middle of rebuilding the engines and am wondering what you ran across?
