I’m going to be removing my Onan MDJC 12KW hopefully this winter. We thought the starter was bad but somewhere there is a serious short and it draws everything down. Hard to find anyone to work on these so I’m looking to replace it with something newer and lighter. I’m probably going to start disassembly over the winter to help getting it out of the hole and through the narrow cc cabin door. Why didn’t they make them 24” instead of 21 1/4”?  Injectors and starter are new. If anyone needs anything let me know.

I have and spoke with them recently.  They seem to be simple, good engines and a reasonable price. One real concern I have is warranty and service.  They have no distribution or service in MI.

I do have a lead on a used Cummins/Onan that is being pulled near me that is coming out of a well serviced 54 East Bay that I was told has 1800 hours. It has a sound shield and I know the yacht service company who is well respected.  Don't  know a price yet. The 13.5 is bigger than I need and I could actually go smaller than the 12kw.  We installed a 2800 watt inverter last year that runs everything but the water heater, stove and AC.  Given we are in MI AC is seldom needed on the big lake so we need the gen on occasion to cook, take a shower or recharge the batteries if we are on the hook.
