Saturday August 11 marked the latest date of commissioning since purchase in 1994! The good news is all went well, a little gas squirted into the bowls and nearly instant ignition.
The flood has subsided the harbor water system is again functioning for the harbor and for us in those 40 odd slips on the highside of the harbor electricity remains serviceable. Out of approximately 220 slips all others meter bases were under feet to fathoms of water and are awaiting delivery of backlogged meters and panels. (not to mention new and taller poles.. As many members on the Mississippi are aware this flood started in mid-March and we were only able to access the marina by road in late July. Many decisions about reconstruction remain but we have a good base of owners, a decent but stressed financial condition and will remain the oldest, and most beautiful Marina on this portion of the Mighty Miss.
I am not sure what fate has against me boating on this river, in 1993 I was Commodore of Valley Sailing, "The Fleet that Never Sailed." This year I am again treasurer at HPYC, my last time in office!
Best to all upstream
