I’m in the process of installing a washdown pump, and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions on a quick connect deck fitting. I was originally going to just mount it all in my lazarette (like to avoid drilling holes in the boat), but after finding a great spot to mount the pump, there’s a perfect spot for a quick connect on deck next to the shower.

Jabsco sells a deck fitting for like $100, and I’m not looking to cheap-out on the project, but I can’t imagine there’s not a more cost effective approach. Anyone have any ideas?

Matt, mine has two deck fittings for pump-out.  The one used is next to the head on the walkway.  The second is not connected and on the foredeck portside.  Do you have two also, if so can you use the blank?  The fitting has a large hole so you could fashion a method to lift the hose through that opening and not put new holes in the boat.

No, I don’t have anything like that. I just have one fitting up there and it’s for the pumpout.

Matt, on Wanderer I have a fresh water washdown and a salt water washdown in the cockpit. Both are plumbed using standard sillcocks with barbed fittings. Home Depot carries a wide variety of quick connects that fit garden hose threads.

Matt,

The Jabsco is one of the nicer solutions aside from custom fabrication options which I’ve seen on some boats.

You can get the Jabsco for a bit cheaper:

Also, there is a company in Michigan that was offering a nice quick connect for wash down a few years back. Tiara installed it on their boats for a while. I’ll see if I can find the link.

Greg

Thanks guys - and thanks for that link, Greg. Would appreciate the name of that other company too if you find it, then I can wrap up my research!

CPC by Donald Engineering for Tiara yachts was made in plastic and also a nice version in chromed brass. It was a customized commercial grade fluid handling quick connection.

Thank you!

I installed the Jabsco one last year, and I couldn't find any other flush mount option. While expensive, it works very well and the plastic insert parts (that connect to the hose) are very strong.
