Hello Everyone:

Can someone enlighten me as to what happened as to the above subject line?  I have noticed it for the past couple of days.

Jim, you are right, I recently removed the chat function from the site. Here is why.

The basic idea with a chat function is that it makes it possible for members who are on the site and logged in to send and receive instant messages to other members that are online. The member can address all other members that are online or you can have a one-on-one chat. So far so good.

But the function is not much used. In fact I get the impression that the only time it is being used it is when new members mistakenly thing it is the forum and are surprised that they don't get any replies. The few other users are struggling with the concept that you can only effectively chat with others that are online as opposed to our forum where it doesn't matter if all involved are online simultaneously or not.

Hence the chat function creates more confusion than benefits. Therefore the executive committee decided to take it off the site. That said, should there be fair amount of members that feel it is useful I will be glad to reinstate it again. It is super easy to put it back.

Let me know what you think.

Good Evening to All:

Thank you for your prompt response. What can I say, except to go with the flow as to what has been found that actually works. I am leaving this issue in the good hands of the administrator and the executive committee as to what is felt to be the right way to go on this.Thank you for your attention.

Best Regards,

Jim Rivas
