Hey Jim, question for you on your '72 28' Sports Express... Do you do any regular maintenance/checking on the transmission? I don't have it handy but I believe the manual says something about checking the transmission fluid and I've never found it or done it and concerned I'm missing something big.
Did you look at the 35' in Maine?
I looked at that in August.
I do not care for the white laminate or the newer style helm station.
Not really but the boat appears to be in very good shape. The mechanical work needed does not scare me. 1000 hours on 427's is nothing.
Did he tell you when the boat has to be out by? I could not get an answer, that was my issue to have to coordinate trucking.
Jim if you had no breakers in your panel you would see that as you go down the right side or the left every other breaker is fed by the opposite side feed. In other words going down the right side the breakers are numbered even. 2,6,10,14,18, are fed off one hot lead and 4,8,12,16,20 are fed off the other hot lead. Your double pole breaker will be using 2 and 4, each with a different 110 volt source. A 200 amp 40 circuit service for your house is actually capable of providing 400 amps to your house. Next time your at home depot they have panels that are open and you can see this. That is the correct breaker though, the handle across the two poles keeps you from being able to turn off or trip just one.
Jim, you are correct in that the red/black are interchangable at the outlet as well as the panel. Just make sure you have a double pole breaker that trips both the black and the red together. I have seen people use two single pole breakers and get in a heap of trouble when only one leg trips. Each leg will then supply 110-120 volts giving you your 220-240 volt as required. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call after 11:00 am. I worked the overnight shift last night and need a couple of hours of sleep. Kevin
Hi Jim,
The boat is in Manchester by the Sea...I am having some steering and engine work done on her at Crocker's boatyard. I guess this weekend is not a good time to visit, sorry. Maybe next weekend?

yes, we do all the time. Usually a nice cruise out the Mystic and along the city waterfront, sometimes to the outer harbor around the islands. We did this last Saturday after a cookout at the marina.
