Posting Videos

Back to Help Page Index

Our site provide multiple ways to share videos:

  1. Share videos you have on your computer's hard drive
  2. Share videos that you already stored and shared on any of the most popular video sharing services on the Internet such as YouTube, Hulu or Vimeo.
  3. Share video as a part of a discussion forum post

To share video stored on your computer:

  1. Locate Video Library under the Library tab in the top navigation menu.
  2. Click the +Add button.
  3. Click the big red Add Videos button.
  4. Locate the video on your hard drive and double click on it.
  5. Click the +Add More link if you want to post more videos.
  6. When you are done selecting videos to share;  click Upload
  7. Fill in a title and a description. This is important since people looking at the video usually want some texted proof of what they are looking at.
  8. Click Save.

To share videos from YouTube, Hulu, Vimeo and other services

  1. Locate Video Library under the Library tab in the top navigation menu.
  2. Click the +Add button.

Sharing videos using a discussion post

You can insert videos into a discussion post. Click here for instructions.

What is the difference between sharing via the Library and the Forum?

Inserting a video in a forum post can greatly help in illustrating a point or a question you are making. "A video speaks more than 1000 words..." However, videos shared  this way are short lived. Finding photos in a discussion post made maybe, three weeks ago or 6 months ago is often impossible.

Sharing videos via the Library is ideal if you want your videos to be easier to find and long lasting. Especially if you annotate them with a description and title that makes it possible to find via the search function. Many members also prefer watching videos rather than discussion posts.
