Hi all commander owners!

I had no idea there where so many Commanders still out there.

I am a retired Coast Guard CPO and bought my Commander from a broker that got it as a repo in Shelter Island CA. in 1995.

I got a good deal on it I thought as the structure was very sound, but the interior was trashed, documentation gone and the engines were repowerd 454's that used the original engine mounts.  Didn't work well.

It also had a swim platform added to it which after a lot of trouble trying to figure out why the engines overheated, was removed along with the overheating problem.

Now it has a cool glide.

I went to the Mariners museum and found the original documents and schematics which helped a lot in restoring it.

Hopefully they will also help in getting the CG to register it as US made, but that remains to be seen.

Anyway, besides that the cabin has sliding back doors and a mast was added at some point which is handy for all that electronic stuff.

It is a great boat and looks and rides like no other.

I get a lot of good comments about where its present location is in Chula Vista marina in southern CA.
