I have often wondered why Commanders were made in such incrementally small lengths? More specifically, the 41, 45 and 47 varieties? Was that a carryover from the "any size, any option" mantra of…Continue

I am gutting the Total Command System (yikes, I know) and rewiring the entire helm. I'd like to take if off the boat and build it out on a bench at home. Has anyone removed the (lower) helm from…Continue

Hi John,
Thanks, It has been on the market for a long time. I guess the pictures are not representative of the real thing. Considering there have been many that have changed hands during the time that this one has been on the market. I do notice that the mast is not predent in the pictures.
John,
Did you look at the 1982 41' in Rhode Island before you bought your boat?

Hi John
I would suggest after commenting on your quest that this model and this commander I found on line (even though a broker has it) is looking good and has better head room and would be a better model for resale in the future. Plus I think that although it only has the master and the forward stateroom there also is pull out coach in the salon. If there is a 45 for sale near you go take the family for a look before you decide on a 47 to compare. I believe at your point in your reach it is worth a look and the 8v71N is a bullet proof engine. It is not as fast as some want but you don't have a turbo issue either.
