Helm Steering Leak
1 Reply

I am struggling with a steering leak in my 1976 47.  It has leaked for a while but as most leaks go they get worse and it has reached a point of a must do.  I assume it's a ring issue.  How do it get…Continue

Mike,

Hope your seasons have gone well....we just finished our third with travel back from our seasonal dock in Mack City to Bay City. The CCV have worked flawlessly and appreciate your info and pics in 2018. For the first time---putting her away with no major mechanical or cosmetic items to do!  Spent some of the summer tracking down vexing wiring issues, most simple, but aggravating--having the control center schematics on board was a great help--still have the pilot house lights to track down. Working fine, changed to LED---now nothing!  traced everything, but no luck so far.  Port Trim tab--still stuck, but will clear when on the hard.  Great Commander, gets all the attention wherever she is docked as I am sure  yours does as well.

Hope to have a chance to visit soon, or please come to Mack City next summer anytime!

Hi Mike,  Good morning.  Just another sunny day in Paradise.  We topped off fuel at Green Turtle Bay and then again in Cape Girardeau, MO.  They have a fuel dock on the Mississippi River.  You call the number listed in the Quimby's Cruising Guide.  The guy brings a tank truck to the dock and you can purchase fuel.  You will need it by the time you get there.  The Ohio is an easy cruise but when you turn upstream in the Mississippi the current in that area is running pretty fast.  You will have to do turns for 15 knots to do 9.  Make sure you stay in the channel and have a nice cruise.
